When it’s hot outside, you might not spare a thought for what you’re going to be wearing come autumn and winter. But the colder months are just weeks away, so it’s always worth being prepared, right?
If you’re thinking about kicking 2015 off with a wardrobe clean-out, you’re going to need to know what trends will be hanging around for another season. I poked around my local Trade Secret store and came away with a bunch of new season stock that is bang on trend. So if you do want to pick up a few trend pieces this autumn, it won’t cost your entire pay packet.
Just as an FYI, you should know that this is an advertorial for Trade Secret.
1. Midi length.
The new silhouette this season is all about calf-length dresses and skirts. This is excellent news for those of us who work in offices, don’t particularly like showing off our legs or have seen enough festival bum cheek to last a lifetime. If you can pick up a pleated midi skirt, like the grey one above ($29.95, you save $50) you’ll cover off on two trends at once.
2. Animal print.
Animal print is to autumn/winter what florals are for spring. You probably already have at least one or two animal print garments hanging in your wardrobe. I’m still seeing the large leopard print designs around, so give yourself a pat on the back if you ‘invested’ in this trend last year.
This is coming through in accessories again – I’m loving this blouse ($29.95, you save $15) and animal print sneakers ($29.95, you save $10).
3. Athletic.
It could have something to do with our penchant for wearing exercise gear all day, but our obsession with athletic clothing is showing no signs of hitting its peak. Pick up an easy to wear dress for weekend wear (only $24.95, you save $20) or for the less sporty, try a floral twist on the trend ($29.95, you save $30) or a quilted gym bag ($39.95, you save $30).
