1. Australian soldier dies in New Zealand.
During a survival training exercise, a 44-year-old Australian soldier has fallen down a crevasse on Aoraki Mount Cook in New Zealand. His body was recovered by search and rescue workers.
Police are notifying their next of kin and the Australian Defence Force is investigating the matter further.
2. How police tried to catch Gerard Baden-Clay.
With the case against Gerard Baden-Clay concluding, details are emerging of the investigation into the murder of his wife, Allison. Police reportedly set a trap for Gerard by bugging the flowers at Allison’s funeral. They hoped he would break down when alone with the coffin. However, it didn’t work.
Police also monitored his phone calls, investigated reports of sightings of 2 people in the Kholo Creek area on the night Allison was murdered and used several agencies to assist them with the evidence.
3. A GoPro camera may give family insight into snowboarders’ last moments.
A GoPro camera was found on the body of Daniel Kerr - one of the two snowboarders whose body was recovered earlier this week on Mt Bogong after an avalanche.
Police will examine the footage to be able to inform the family the last moments of the pair.
4. Disney, Universal Studios and SeaWorld staff accused of sex crimes.
CNN reports that at least 35 Disney theme park employees have been arrested for possession of child porn or trying to meet a minor for sex since 2006. 32 have been convicted so far. 5 Universal Studies staff and 2 staff from SeaWorld have also been arrested on similar charges.
