That's right, it's time for the Australian Open 2025

As the first Grand Slam of the year, the Aussie competition really sets the tone for the entire tennis season and, like clockwork, the tennis stars flock down under for, what feels like, one of the biggest tennis events of the year. Maybe I'm biased but, trust me, it gets pretty hectic. 

One thing is for sure — with approximately 900,000 people expected to attend this year, the energy is going to be unmatched.

Where to watch the Australian Open 2025? 

For those of you who live in Melbourne, you're lucky enough! As usual, the 2025 Australian Open is taking place across Melbourne Park, with the tournament being played in Melbourne's prestigious Rod Laver Arena. The atmosphere at The Australian Open is something else — so if you're a Melbourne resident, run, don't walk.

For the rest of us plebs, you can catch the 2025 Australian Open at home on Channel Nine's Wide World of Sports, available on 9 and 9Now. What time is the Australian Open 2025? 

The 2025 Australian Open officially begins at 11am on January 12 and spans across 15 days.

The competition will kick off with the first round of both men's and women's singles matches, and the action will continue through to Tuesday, January 21, when the quarterfinals are set to begin.

The women's semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, January 23, followed by the men's semifinals on Friday, January 24.

The Australian Open will finish with the women's singles final at 7:30pm on Saturday, January 25, and the men's final at 7:30pm on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

What is the Australian Open 2025 match schedule?

The Australian Open singles draw is due to be released on Thursday, January 9 at 2.30pm AEDT, followed by the doubles draw on Saturday, January 11 at 3pm AEDT.

Who is playing the Australian Open 2025? 

While there will undoubtedly be some fresh faces showing up to shake things up, let's be honest, we're all interested to see which big names will be gracing the Rod Laver Arena this year. And well, it's looking like the best of the best will be competing. Literally. 

Defending champions Jannik Sinner, the current world number one in men's tennis, and Aryna Sabalenka, the reigning women's world number one, will both be playing at the Australian Open 2025.

Other standout players you'll definitely be interested to see at the Australian Open 2025 include Novak Djokovic, Iga Świątek, Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Naomi Osaka, and our Aussie pride and joy, Alex De Minaur.
