Last night, we watched a date between Apollo and Sophie Monk on The Bachelorette, go tremendously wrong.
People at home hung their head in their hands as the pair avoided eye contact, sitting in absolute silence for minutes on end before Apollo just said, “Bread stick?”
Apollo, no.
It is not the time for a bread stick.
The reason for the silence was obvious.

Sophie, 37, was unsure if Apollo, 24, was ready to settle down, so she asked him about his plans for the future.
Apollo said that he could totally see himself getting married in the next four to six years, which is approximately four to six years later than when Sophie was planning on getting married.
Uh oh.
There was nowhere to go. No phones to check. Neither could even come up with a fun fact to share to just BREAK THE GODDAMN SILENCE. It seems they both knew what was coming.
Apollo, one of this season’s favourites was eliminated, and women all over Australia picked up their phones and went straight to Tinder, setting their age range specifically to ’24’.
But according to Apollo, it wasn’t marriage that was the biggest issue. Rather, it was kids.
“I think it was probably going to be the biggest thing,” Apollo told Mamamia, regarding Sophie’s interest in having children in the near future.
“I thought obviously you could talk about it… and I still want to be a young cool dad. Well, obviously not cool…” he said.
But children, it would seem, were not in Apollo’s five year plan.
As Apollo said last night, he wants to spend the next few years travelling and not being “tied down” to one place. He wants to continue to pursue magic and music, his twin passions.
