Brad Pitt is “terrified the public will learn the truth", Angelina Jolie says.

Divorces are messy, particularly when you have two of the world’s most famous people involved and it all begins with an alleged incident on a private jet involving a child.

Now, People Magazine reports Angelina Jolie has agreed to Brad Pitt’s request to seal divorce documents relating to custody of their six children, which he submitted for fear of ‘compromising the kids’ privacy’.

But Jolie’s legal team has disputed his claim she freely made public sensitive information about the children in a highly critical new court filing.

On September 14, 2016, an incident allegedly occurred during a flight on the family’s private plane, prompting a formal investigation that would eventually clear Pitt of wrongdoing.

At the time Jolie, 41, alleged she had to take action to protect the welfare of the kids, claiming Pitt, 53 had been involved in an altercation with their oldest child Maddox, 15.

What followed were stories of conflicts over parenting styles and news of an informal custody arrangement that gives Pitt only supervised visitation with his children Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10 and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

Pitt requested court documents involving the children be sealed and Jolie has now agreed, but not before delivering an almighty slap, claiming in her legal response to his request that Pitt is “terrified that the public will learn the truth.”

“There is little doubt that [Brad] would prefer to keep the entire case private, particularly given the detailed investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Dept. of Children and Family Services into allegation of abuse.”

In Pitt's request to seal documents relating to their children, it was stated in a sworn declaration, "I am extremely concerned that if court records regarding custody are not sealed, information contained therein will cause irreparable damage to our children's privacy rights."

Pitt has previously claimed Jolie is "determined to ignore even agreed upon standards relating to the children's best interests", accusing his ex-wife of having "no self-regulating mechanism" when it comes to preventing sensitive information going public.

CNN reports Pitt took issue with the names of therapists working with the family being made public in Jolie's previous court filings.

An informal custody arrangement was established in October after the split that sees Jolie retaining sole custody of their six kids and Pitt getting visitation. Pitt is seeking joint custody.
