Angelina Jolie has had speculation and suspicion about her divorce played out in the press for months.
Yet rather than rise to the rumours, the 41-year-old actor/director has remained quiet, ensuring her private life remains that way.
But today that changed.
In an interview with the BBC, the mother of six spoke about how she and her children are coping in the wake of the separation.
Asked about the alleged incident that lead to the couple's split, Jolie responded, "I don’t want to say very much about that, except to say it was a very difficult time. And we are a family and we will always be a family, and we will get through this time and hopefully be stronger family for it."
Jolie filed for divorce from her husband in September, reportedly following an incident that occurred on a flight from France to Los Angeles involving their 15-year-old son Maddox.
A subsequent investigation by the FBI cleared Pitt of any wrongdoing and no charges were laid.

However, Jolie is proceeding with the divorce and seeking full custody of their children, Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Vivienne, and Knox.
When pressed by the BBC on how she's dealing with the split, the First They Killed My Father director said her children, aged between eight and 15, are her way forward.
"Many, many people find themselves in this situation. My whole family we have all been through a difficult time," she told the BBC.
