Angelina Jolie has 6 kids. She’s one of the most famous humans on the planet. You could say she’s the ideal person to talk about what motherhood’s like as a movie star.
And… That’s exactly what she’s just done. In a refreshingly candid way.
Angelina, who is currently promoting her spooky-goth turn as Maleficent, acknowledges the uniquely privileged position she’s in as a working mama in Hollywood. And so she should – it’s a helluva lot more helpful to hear the truth (rather than other actresses – Gwyneth, we’re looking at you – who insist they have it tough).
Jolie says that she and her famous peers have “much more support than most people” and really shouldn’t complain.
“I actually feel that women in my position, when we have all at our disposal to help us, shouldn’t complain. Consider all the people who really struggle and don’t have the financial means, don’t have the support, and many people are single raising children. That’s hard.”
The 38-year-old actress told the New York Daily News: “I’m not a single mom with two jobs trying to get by every day. I have much more support than most people, most women in this world. And I have the financial means to have a home and health care and food.”
Yeah, as we said… These comments are approximately 1000 x more empathetic than Gwyneth Paltrow‘s. GP recently caused outrage with the mothers of the world by saying: “It’s much harder for me. I think to have a regular job and be a mom is not as… of course there are challenges, but it’s not like being on set.”
