Amazon have decided that it’s time for Back to the Future/The Jetsons/every dream about the future you had as a child to become a reality. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos confirmed on US 60 Minutes last night that Amazon ‘Prime Air’ will be up and running as soon as they’ve negotiated the rules with those pesky government bodies that always get in the way of cool stuff.
The drone is basically a mini helicopter with claws. When you order something online, rather than a factory person putting your package on a post truck, a drone will latch onto your package, fly through the air like a total boss and have it to you within 30 minutes (if you live within 16kms of a distribution centre – if not, too bad too sad). Once you’ve got the item you couldn’t possibly wait more than half an hour for, Little Droney-Drone flies back to base. Take a look:
