When Christian Bucks noticed kids at his school with nobody to play with, he decided to do something about it.
The adorable second-grade student from Roundtown Elementary School in York in the US had seen an ad from a school in Germany where a Buddy Bench had been set up. He asked school Principal Matthew Miller if he could set one up at his school and was given their full support. They let Christian pick the bench, the style and the colour and explain it to the students at a special assembly.
Christian told the school students that if someone is lonely and has no-one to play with, they can sit on the Buddy Bench and if another child is there, they can ask if they want to play. He hopes the bench will help everyone to “grow our dream circle of friends”.
Watch Christian explain the Buddy Bench to his fellow students:
More schools are now setting up their own Buddy Bench, inspired by this amazing boy.
