The heartbroken family of a woman who died during an elective caesarian section have spoken out about losing her.
Amanda Sheppard’s family say the Rockhampton mum-to-be was in an “extremely happy place” as she prepared for her child’s birth before her untimely death earlier this week.
They said her death had “completely shocked and devastated our family’’.
Sheppard tragically passed away on Monday from complications relating to a caesarian section while giving birth to her first child at Rockhampton Base Hospital in Queensland.
Her husband Glynn was by her side.
The baby girl, Willa, is in a stable condition and due to return home with Mr Sheppard later this week.

“While mourning the loss of our dearest Amanda, the focus at this time is on ensuring Willa’s safe transition from hospital to home later in the week,’' they told The Courier Mail.
“Her caring and loving personality led her to become a very special person in all who knew her, and particularly her sisters, nieces, and nephews who she devoted special attention to.
“Our country girl at heart with a love of all music and a passion for cooking, would always arrive with something special that everyone would enjoy.”
