Ex-NRL star Alex McKinnon and Teigan Power have married, and the images are stunning.

Former NRL player Alex McKinnon has married his long-term partner Teigan Power in the NSW Hunter Valley.

The two were married in front of family and friends with McKinnon, 25, fulfilling a pledge he made in June to rise from his wheelchair on their wedding day.

Power, a 23-year-old primary school teacher, revealed the wedding date to her Instagram followers on Saturday night, confirming the pair would be married on Sunday.

“Tomorrow is the day we say ‘I do’ to the rest of our lives,” she wrote, alongside an image of the pair of them.

McKinnon shared the same image, with the caption “not long now”.

McKinnon’s promising rugby league career was cut short when he suffered a devastating spinal cord injury in March 2014.

The then-22-year-old was badly tackled while playing for the Newcastle Knights and diagnosed a quadriplegic.

McKinnon proposed to Power, his high school sweetheart, from his hospital bed just days after the accident.

Yesterday the pair were married in a ceremony at Peppers Creek Winery at Pokolbin in front of family, friends and a party of NRL legends.

Australian Test fullback and captain of the Brisbane Broncos Darius Boyd was McKinnon’s best man. And icons such as Wayne Bennett, Andrew Johns, Trent Merrin, Danny Buderus, Kurt Gidley, Dane Gagai and Beau Scott were all in the crowd.

The bride wore a beautiful beaded gown with a tight bodice and full skirt.

The couple’s story has been one of inspiration and strength in the face of extreme and unexpected adversity.

Surely, they are stronger than ever going into this next chapter of their lives.
