'I'm a fashion editor and I'm obsessed with these 10 finds under $50.'

With a new season on the way, it's a great time to stock up on pieces to see you through autumn.

Some of those will be your staples that are well worth investing in, like a new coat or sneakers. But you don't have to spend a lot to give your wardrobe an injection of newness.

Fifteen years of shopping for a living has taught me that great daily style really always comes down to nailing a high-low mix. And when it comes to the "lower" end, you just have to know where to look for the good stuff.

If you're short on browsing time, I've got you. Here's my edit of on-trend finds that won't break the bank.

Fashion finds under $50.

NA-KD Off-Shoulder Jersey Top, $35.95.

If you're not across Swedish high street brand NA-KD, consider this my PSA. Full of affordable, elevated staples and with free shipping to Australia, it's well worth a scroll! This top combines two of my favourite new-season trends — cherry red and an asymmetrical neckline. I'll pair it with high-waisted jeans and ballet flats for an easy, chic look.

H&M Curvy Fit Wide Ultra High Jeans, $49.95.

These really are the holy grail jeans — super high-waisted with a straight leg and no weird bells and whistles. They come in lots of washes, including indigo and grey, but I can't go past the classic baby blue. Be quick, they're selling out fast!

Autumn called, it wants you to get this top. The forest green stripes give it a hint of that rugby jumper vibe, and the slouchy shape makes it great for layering under trench coats and puffers.

Glassons Tie Waist Wide Leg Pants, $39.99.

With a loungewear feel thanks to the drawstring and a silhouette you can absolutely wear to the office, you'll want to live in these pants. They come in lots of neutral shades including black, taupe and a suiting-inspired grey — the hardest part is choosing just one pair.

NEXT Yellow Graphic Beach T-Shirt, $45.

Not all oversized tees are created equal. I like mine in thick cotton so I know they'll last the many washes I put them through. This find from NEXT is a nice heavy weight and the print is actually embroidered. Wear it now with bike shorts then switch to knit pants for autumn.

As I was browsing the aisles of Target, this two-piece set really stood out to me. The fresh butter yellow shade and the modern tailoring look way more expensive than the price tag — you can get this entire fit for under $100.

Accessories under $50.

Women's Sheepskin and Leather Tape Collar Mule Platform Slipper, $45.

Yes, these are those Ugg boot mules you're seeing all over your IG feed, from European influencers to supermodels including Gigi Hadid and Elsa Hosk — and they're $45 at Target. Say less.

Petal + Pup Lani Knitted Handbag, $39.

Soft, textured bags are trending, and I've been on the hunt for a chocolate brown option to go with all the tonal pieces in my winter wardrobe. This mini bag by Petal + Pup really meets the brief.

Kmart Fisherman Jelly Sandals, $8.

Let's face it — the jelly sandal trend is one of those fun moments in fashion when you don't need to splurge to access the look. While there are many straight-up dupes of The Row's cult rubber cage flats on the high street, I spotted these fisherman sandals in Kmart and loved how simple and nostalgic they were. I snapped them up in clear and pink.

We're seeing a big resurgence of chunky jewellery in organic shapes, especially in bangles and pendant necklaces. If it feels a bit "art teacher", it's right on the money. This stack is the perfect compliment to a minimal evening look - I'd style them with a draped dress and kitten heels.
