Five months on, Aaron Carter's official cause of death has been revealed.
The 34-year-old singer died from drowning and the effects of difluoroethane and alprazolam, according to the Los Angeles Country Medical Examiner-Coroner.
Difluoroethane is a gas often used in cans of compressed air, while alprazolam is a generic form of Xanax.
According to the report, Carter, who died at his California home in November, was "found submerged under water and unresponsive in his bathtub," ABC News reports.
"Medics responded and pronounced death at the scene."
Representatives of Carter's team confirmed his death in a statement last year.
"It is with great regret to confirm Aaron Carter was found unresponsive this a.m. in his home in Palmdale, CA," his rep told Page Six.
"The family has been notified and will be flying out to Los Angeles. Aaron worked very hard towards the end of his life in recovery, to be a good father and to make amends with his family."
