One thing about being an absolute TV fiend? I've spent a not-so-small chunk of my life counting down the seconds until the latest, most hyped drops.

Until the days of streaming services, I was often left waiting years before seeing the very best shows — resorting to buying DVD collections of series I'd never even seen just so I could be in the zeitgeist. Shout out to my box sets of The Mindy Project and Gilmore Girls.

Fortunately, we're now receiving better and more exciting content than ever before. A plethora of pop culture moments, if you will.

This year, 7plus is taking the cake with some of the most incredible releases straight from the US. Whether it's the most-talked-about sitcom of the year, St. Denis Medical or the hotly anticipated spin-off, Suits LA, the streaming service is offering up premium content for you to enjoy.

Not to mention, the streamer is home to some of my favourite nostalgic shows like Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Bones, Sons of Anarchy and of course, Gilmore Girls, which you can watch back-to-back at your heart's content.

Not sure where to begin? Here are my six top picks of the very best things to watch on 7plus right now.

Suits LA

Fans of the original Suits series enjoyed a phenomenal nine seasons of the hit legal drama before it ended in 2019. Now? The franchise has moved to the West Coast with Suits LA — a brand new series that centres around Ted Black (Stephen Amell), a former federal prosecutor from New York who has reinvented himself by representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. Joining Amell in the series are Lex Scott Davis, Bryan Greenberg and Josh McDermitt.

Suits LA has the familiar high-stakes legal drama that captivated original fans, while offering up a unique twist by setting the law firm in the heart of the entertainment industry.

But the good news is you don't need to be a die-hard fan of Suits to follow along — however, there are more than a few Easter eggs to enjoy if you were a Harvey Specter fan. That's not a thing… but it does work.

With new episodes dropping every Monday night, direct from the US, it's the perfect drama to watch as you unwind week after week.

St. Denis Medical

For my money, TV doesn't get much better than an NBC ensemble comedy. Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Friends, Scrubs, Superstore: they're the best to ever do it. And now, they have a new offering in the form of St. Denis Medical.

The comedy is set in an underfunded, understaffed hospital in Oregon and follows the daily lives of the dedicated doctors and nurses working there. The ensemble cast includes Wendi McLendon-Covey, Allison Tolman, David Alan Grier, Josh Lawson, Mekki Leeper and Kahyun Kim.

Whether it's the enthusiastic but tone-deaf hospital administrator Joyce or the cocky trauma surgeon Bruce, the series is as real as it is ridiculous in its portrayal of life on a hospital staff.

Filmed in a mockumentary style, like Parks and Rec and The Office, the series balances humour and heart as we follow the dedicated team behind St. Denis Medical.

The Hunting Party

If you're looking for something a little more high-octane and a little less goofy, then you need to tune in to The Hunting Party.

This new crime drama starring Melissa Roxburgh and Josh McKenzie will have you on the edge of your seat. It follows a team of investigators on a mission to capture the most notorious serial killers who have escaped from a top-secret prison known as "The Pit". Led by FBI profiler Rebecca "Bex" Henderson, the team must navigate a web of conspiracies and unpredictable villains.

In particular, Roxburgh is a compelling lead — commanding the screen as she takes on her first lead role since Manifest.

Ludwig

Now, if you've been searching for the perfect cosy crime series to curl up with, Ludwig is serving up everything you're looking for.

David Mitchell stars as John "Ludwig" Taylor, a reclusive puzzle-setter who reluctantly steps into his missing twin brother's shoes as a Cambridge detective.

The beauty of Ludwig is the way it blends your classic murder mysteries with Mitchell's awkward performance, and honestly? It's the most I've laughed at a crime show in ages.

The Rookie

My TikTok page is filled with small snippets of scenes from The Rookie — so I decided to sit down and watch the real thing. And it's the ultimate guilty pleasure.

With six seasons to devour on 7plus, The Rookie is a crime procedural drama that's heavy on the interpersonal drama between the key characters. Think Grey's Anatomy in a police precinct.

The series follows John Nolan (Nathan Fillion), who pursues his dream of becoming an LAPD officer as the force's oldest rookie.

What makes it so captivating is the perfect blend of action, humour and heart. The characters are wonderfully developed — you'll find yourself genuinely invested in their journeys beyond just the case-of-the-week format.

Below Deck

For the ultimate escapism, it doesn't get better than the reality TV series Below Deck — of which there are three variants on 7plus: Below Deck, Below Deck Down Under and Below Deck Mediterranean.

The hit series chronicles the lives of the crew members who work and reside aboard a superyacht during charter season. Along with the classic workplace dramas, we're treated to a glimpse behind the luxurious curtain of the lives of those who holiday on the high seas.
