Hairstylist says she was "threatened" after refusing to do Trump's ex-wife's hair for free.

A popular US hairstylist has claimed she was asked to provide her services to Donald Trump’s ex-wife and daughter for free on Inauguration Day.

According to The Washington Post, Tricia Kelly says she was approached by an assistant to Marla Maples on January 4, and told that the actress and her daughter, Tiffany Trump, had a combined hair and makeup budget of $300 for Friday’s event.

Despite normally charging $150 in travelling fees alone, the freelance stylist agreed to coif the pair for a reduced rate of $200.

But next came a bizarre counter offer from Maples’ team. How about she provide her services for free in exchange for “exposure” on the women’s social media accounts?

“I was stunned,” Kelly told The Washington Post. “I told them…I work for a fee, not for free.”

After the paper contacted Maples' PR representative for comment, Kelly claims she received a threatening message from her client who first put her in touch with the 53-year-old's team.

“You are messing with the president of the United States,” the message reportedly said.

“[Maples] is used to a certain lifestyle and you don’t understand that.”

As someone who regularly works with some of Washington D.C.'s most famous faces, Kelly normally prides herself on discretion. But she says she's determined to expose such blatant exploitation.

“I’ve turned away several things for fame,” she told Page Six. “But I felt like things like this shouldn’t be silenced.

"This is about people taking advantage of you and the industry.”

Maples and President Trump were married between 1993 and 1999. Tiffany, 23, is their only child together.
