8 gift ideas for every type of friend (and their style).

Christmas comes around so fast every year (seriously, I swear the years get shorter as I get older). It feels like just yesterday I was celebrating with family and friends, leaning back in our chairs after filling our stomachs with food, exchanging presents and wiping our hands clean from the holiday chaos for the umpteenth time.

But, as if no time has passed, December is fast approaching and we all know what that means... It's time to start gift shopping.

Some of you (who I'm very jealous of) may read that statement with utter joy — as expert gift-givers, you can shop around and find the perfect gift for every type of friend without a second thought.

Others, like me, might be dreading the yearly challenge of finding gifts for loved ones that they'll actually like (and that won't break the bank because, let's face it, we're in a cost-of-living crisis and ya girl's gotta eat).

So, for us fearful folk, I've done us all a favour and prepared a list in advance. Just take a look below, find the category that best describes your friend or family member (or maybe they fit multiple — lucky you) and grab them a gift.

Voilà, you're welcome.

Your work bestie who loves practical accessories.

We all have at least one friend who's absolutely killing it at work — if you don't, maybe that person is you. Your work bestie is motivated, social and always on the go. They deserve something not only chic but also practical — and I have the perfect idea: frank green.

Their huge variety of gifts are sustainable, stylish and won't collect dust in a cupboard — in my humble opinion, the ultimate destination for all your gifting needs. And we have OPTIONS (yes, I've researched this thoroughly for us).

First up is the Gradient Ceramic Reusable Bottle from frank green's limited edition holiday collection. The gradient colour options are absolutely stunning! You can also get it monogrammed for that personal touch.

Let me repeat: monogrammed — all for just $61.90. And if you really want to take it up a notch, you can add the Car Cup Holder Expander, which keeps the 34oz bottle snug and secure in the car, ensuring they stay hydrated while on the move.

Now, this wouldn't be a frank green gift ideas list without the iconic 12oz Ceramic Reusable Cup — because what corporate baddie doesn't need a coffee fix? This cup keeps the temperature just right, doesn't ruin the flavour like some reusable cups do (looking at you, plastic) and looks boujie. At anywhere from $35 and $47, it's the perfect gift.

Finally, if you're after the cult-favourite drink bottle spotted on every office girlie's desk, there's the Iconic Duo gift set, priced between $119 and $123. The set comes with two customisable bottles, beautifully packaged in a gift box to suit anyone's style.

The experience-seeker who's always up for an adventure.

Some friends are the people you call when you want to try something new. They're the fearless ones who'll give (almost) anything a go once — and that's exactly what we love about them! It's giving Sagittarius energy… if you know, you know.

I personally love giving experiences as gifts, whether they're adrenaline-fuelled or just entertaining — the best part about these gifts is the story you get to tell afterward.

A perfect, reasonably priced option for the experience-seeker is an escape room. I recently did one with my partner, and it was the best time of my life.

Not only is it absolutely hilarious, but with so many different themes, you can even choose scarier options if you're after an extra thrill.

Each city has its own places, but if you're in Sydney like me, Next Level Escape Rooms has great ratings, and you can buy gift vouchers, so you don't need to book until you and your friends are free.

The book lover who vibes best at home.

Our home-loving, introverted friends and family are some of the best people we know. Their love for books, movies and all things calm and cosy gives off a warm, fire-lit cabin in the woods energy and I am totally here for it.

A great book is always a solid option for these friends — but make sure you choose thoughtfully. Find out what they're into and get them a book in that genre.

If your friend is a constant reader who loves to stay up to date with the current bestsellers, Michael Connelly's The Waiting recently shot up to the number one spot on the New York Times Best Sellers list and has been gaining great review after great review!

As a crime fiction novel, you can get a copy for around $27 from most bookstores, like Dymocks.

The foodie who can't resist a new restaurant.

Similar to the experience seeker, a foodie is looking for great food and drinks that they can think about for a long time afterward.

While some people aren't fans of gift vouchers, labelling them "impersonal," I disagree — especially when it comes to things that require a date booked in the calendar.

Each region will have its own top-notch restaurants to go to, but for Sydney, my choice is Clam Bar. This year, my friend and I ate there (we did it as a shared gift for each other) and boy oh boy, was the food and wine immaculate.

My friend is far more of a foodie than I am and she gave it her tick of approval, so I feel confident in recommending it too.

The Good Food gift card has Clam Bar on it's list of restaurants, so is a great option! It also has a range of other places to choose from if you or your friend don't want to trust my judgement.

The cute and creative type.

Friends in the alternative and/or creative scene can be so much fun to buy for, especially if you love to add a bit of creativity and craft to your gift-giving.

What's a more thoughtful gift for them than a piece of art you made yourself — complete with cut-outs, a thrifted picture frame and some pressed flowers?

For this DIY idea, all you need to do is find a picture frame you love second-hand, add a cool poster, photo, or print to it and incorporate fun extra bits for dimension, like dried flowers, overlapping Polaroid film or news cut-outs — the world is your oyster!

I must admit I got this idea after my partner, a tattoo artist who is very creative and fantastic at gift giving, did this for me (sorry for stealing your idea and sharing it with the world, babe).
